Commemoration Day 18 June

Commemoration Day celebrates the foundation of the University of Glasgow in 1451.  This year, this will include:

  • Service for the Commemoration of Benefactors in the University Chapel at 9.45am
  • Graduation Ceremony for the conferment of Honorary Degrees in the Bute Hall at 11.00am

Staff members and a guest(s) are warmly invited to attend either or both of the above events on Wednesday 18 June 2014. You are also invited to join the academic procession at either or both events. A list of those due to receive Honorary Degrees is attached for your information.

You and your guest(s) are also very welcome to join us at the Lunch in the Hunter Halls after the ceremony at 1.00pm for 1.15pm. If you would like to do so, please go to www.gla.ac.uk/2014commemorationday  and complete the Booking Form, indicating the events that you plan to attend on 18 June, and, if you would like to attend the lunch, please ensure that you complete the payment details.

It would be appreciated if responses are received no later than Friday 23 May, in order that appropriate arrangements can be made. A card confirming arrangements will be sent to you shortly after 23 May, along with the appropriate number of lunch tickets.   May I remind you that gowns can be hired for staff wishing to take part in the academic procession free of charge, but the order must be placed by 16 May 2014.
