Former Vice Principal elected to board of European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities

Professor Graham Caie, former Clerk of Senate and Vice Principal, has been elected to the board of the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA).

Professor Graham Caie, former Clerk to Senate and Vice Principal, has been elected to the board of the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA).

Professor Caie was nominated by the Royal Society, the British Academy and the Royal Society of Edinburgh to represent the 3 UK academies at the ALLEA (All European Academies) Assembly in Oslo on 25 April and was then elected by the Assembly onto the ALLEA Board.

The President or representative of 58 National Academies in over 40 countries is a member of this federation of European Academies in the Council of Europe region. The Board of ALLEA comprises 9 of these members. 

Professor Caie is Vice President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Deputy Chair of the National Library of Scotland and an Honorary Research Professor at the University of Glasgow.  Previously he was Clerk of Senate and Vice Principal at the University of Glasgow and held the Chair of English Language from 1990-2012.
