Last week’s Open Day on 19 June has been judged a huge success with around 4,000 visitors enjoying the sun-soaked Glasgow campus - up more than 400 on last year.

As well as the range of academic talks  on offer and College and service stands, the day included accommodation, city and campus tours, and other fun offerings such as a BBQ, the Saltire Beat pipe band and a silly snaps photo booth to collect a memento of the day.

For the first time, we also ran a social media photo competition where students showed us (through a branded frame) the reasons why they wanted to come to the University of Glasgow using the hashtag #MyUofG. This was the first time we have strategically harnessed social media to provide coverage of the day using dedicated hashtags across many of our social media channels - including new ones like Vine and Storify. These were well adopted throughout the day, from university teams as well as prospective students, so we could really gauge the popularity of the event and engage with our visitors.

The Recruitment and International Office would like to thank everyone that contributed to making the day the huge success it was. The next University Open Day will take place on 3 September.
