Two MOOCs – Massive Open Online Course – have now been launched by the University of Glasgow. Cancer in the 21st century, which went live in April, and Right v Might in International Relations which starts today, Monday 23 June, and looks at everything from drone strikes to Guantanamo Bay.

Glasgow is a partner of FutureLearn, which is backed by the Open University and includes HEs from both the United Kingdom and overseas, as well as the British Museum, the British Library and the British Council.

While not credit-bearing, free, online courses are seen as an excellent way to increase knowledge and interest in different subject areas – useful for those looking to access university-level courses or people who simply have an interest in learning new things.

Professor Frank Coton, Vice-Principal for Learning and Teaching at the University of Glasgow said: “We are excited to be part of the MOOC revolution and we hope that as we expand our offering we will inspire and engage those who choose to study with us. Thousands of people signed up for Cancer in the 21st century, and thousands more have already registered for Right v Might in International Relations.

“Our partnership with FutureLearn will allow us to reach out to a whole new group of learners and underlines the commitment of this University to widening access to education.”

It’s not too late to take part in the Right v Might in International Relations MOOC. Simply follow the link and get learning online.
