GRAB Lunch: International Story So Far

You are warmly invited to attend a special GRAB lunch, designed to promote the University’s online ‘International Story’, and alert staff to the extensive range of international stories held in Archives and University Collections.

Date and time: Monday, 4 August 2014, 12.30 - 13.30

Venue: Sir Alwyn Williams Building (level 5)

You are warmly invited to attend a special GRAB lunch, designed to promote the University’s online ‘International Story’, and alert staff to the extensive range of international stories held in Archives and University Collections.

Who can/should attend? Any members of staff who wish to find out more about what international resources are available, where they are, how to access them and how they might be used in furthering international conversation.

The GRAB lunch (food will be provided) will include:

  • A demonstration of the University’s online International Story, including examples of what is available in Archives and Special Collections and the Hunterian Collections.
  • Short talks by placement students on how the various stories came to light.
  • An overview of all bespoke historical/cultural gifts available to staff to take on overseas visits.
  • Details of the University’s Scottish Business Archive, an unrivalled collection of business records, dating from the 18th century to the present, which reflect the contribution and breadth of activity that Scotland’s business, industry and enterprise has made to the world economy.
  • Details of University’s Archives which date from before the University’s foundation and authenticate the University’s international links.
  • A chance to meet with other staff, including Ms Lesley Richmond (Deputy Director and University Archivist) and other University Collection staff, Professor Jim Conroy (Vice Principal, Internationalisation) and Professor Frank Coton (International Dean for South East Asia).
