Cardinal Winning Lecture

Professor Tony Finn CBE will give the Cardinal Winning Lecture,‘Once a Catholic? The impact of changes in Catholic identity and in Catholic schools,’ at Glasgow University on 1 March 2014.

As we approach the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Education (Scotland) Act, which guaranteed the status of Catholic schooling in Scotland, Professor Tony Finn CBE will explore the implications for schools of changing patterns of practice, belief and culture in the Cardinal Winning Lecture.

This free event is due to start at 9.45 am and is open to all.

After a long career in schools and in the wider local and national governance of education, latterly as Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council for Scotland, Tony Finn has seen the education sector develop and change to meet new contexts and challenges. He is currently the interim Chair of the new Scottish College for Educational Leadership, an important pillar of the recent reforms to Scottish teacher education.
