GUEST are pleased to announce that they will be hosting a series of Sustainable Living Workshops in the New Year

‌GUEST (Glasgow University Environmental Sustainability Team) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting a series of Sustainable Living Workshops in the New Year, writes Carmen Paputa Dutu, GUEST Communications Promoter.

The Sustainable Living Workshops are based on Carbon Conversations, a series of si‌x weekly meetings organised around the topic of climate change.

They focus on sharing advice, knowledge and experience in an informal setting, with the aim of helping participants reduce their carbon footprint by at least 1 tonne CO2 in the short term, and by half over a period of 4-5 years.

‌Each meeting explores a different topic related to consumption habits and climate change, connecting it to personal values, emotions and identity.

This module has been developed based on a psychological understanding of how people change. The groups are usually made up of maximum 12 participants, including the two facilitators, in order to help create a safe space to explore our hopes, doubts and anxieties related to climate change.

In Time for Tommorow

Each participant will receive a copy of the new updated Carbon Conversations handbook, In Time for Tomorrow, and a workbook. Each meeting lasts for up to two hours and involves games, interactive activities and short homework exercises.

Kristina (GUEST Co-ordinator) and Carmen (GUEST Communications Promoter) are both trained facilitators and aim to start the Workshops late February – early March, depending on the participants’ availability. A taster session will take place during Go Green Week, which lasts from the 9th to the 15th of February.
