IEHF Fellowship for Denis Fischbacher-Smith

Professor Denis Fischbacher-Smith, Research Chair in Risk and Resilience and Deputy Head of the Adam Smith Business School, has been appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF).

Professor Denis Fischbacher-Smith, Research Chair in Risk and Resilience and Deputy Head of the Adam Smith Business School, has been appointed a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (IEHF).

The IEHF is the leading professional body for ergonomics and human factors in the UK and Fellowship is awarded by the Institute on the basis of academic qualifications and experience and evidence of making  "significant contributions to ergonomics over a period of at least ten years”.

Professor Fischbacher-Smith’s application for Fellowship was based on two aspects of his research. The first is an extensive period of work in the area of patient safety where he was a member of a Ministerial Advisory Committee on patient safety in 2000 and is currently a Member of the Safety and Learning Advisory Group, NHS Litigation Authority, London.

The second aspect had a focus on work in security ergonomics dealing with a range of issues in the area of corporate security and contingency responses to terrorist attacks.
