University prepares for REF 2014

The University of Glasgow is gearing up for the results of the Research Excellence Framework - REF 2014 which will be published under strict embargo on Thursday (18 December).

Professor Miles Padgett, Vice Principal (Research) and Professor Jon Cooper, Vice Principal (Innovation & Knowledge Exchange) have been working with a team charged with receiving and interpreting the complex data.

The results of REF 2014 will be released to the University of Glasgow in stages over Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 December. These will be distributed to key contacts in each College.

The results are strictly embargoed until 00:01 hrs on 18th December and no further information can be released until then.

On Thursday 18th December 2014, the HEFCE REF team, on behalf of the four UK higher education funding bodies, will publish the results on the REF website www.ref.ac.uk/.

The University will publish a short summary of our REF results on these news pages.

The internal coverage will include a video interview with the Principal, who will give his initial reaction. Coverage will continue on Friday 19th December with the Christmas edition of Campus eNews which will goes to all staff.

The Colleges will use their own internal communications channels to keep staff informed of the results.

The University's general media release will be available from 18 December on the University home page, and the home page will also feature a range of summarised impact case studies. Additional analysis of the results will be provided by the higher education press, e.g. Times Higher Education www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/.
