Professor wins Barbara Wilson Award

Professor Tom McMillan from the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Health and Wellbeing was recently awarded the Barbara Wilson Award from the British Psychological Society (BPS) Division of Neuropsychology.

Professor Tom McMillan from the University of Glasgow’s Institute of Health and Wellbeing was recently awarded the Barbara Wilson Award from the British Psychological Society (BPS) Division of Neuropsychology.

The award recognises outstanding contributions to neuropsychology in the UK.

Professor McMillan was selected on the basis of his internationally recognised research into the neuropsychology head injury, and for his contribution to the development services for people with head injury in the UK.

He said: ‘It is especially gratifying to receive acknowledgement through an award of this kind from peers from my profession’

Professor McMillan was also the founder of the professional group for clinical neuropsychology in the British Psychological Society.

He is Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology as well Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and adviser on brain injury rehabilitation for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The ceremony was 28 November at the Division of Neuropsychology Annual Conference in the Holiday Inn, Regents Park, London
