Investment Application and Business Case Forms

There is one Investment Application Form and two Business Case Forms (one Business Case Form for investment requests <£3m and the other for investment requests >£3m).

Only one form needs to be completed for each investment request, and the same form can be used for every University of Glasgow committee, approver or approval body.

Most investment requests will only need to complete the Investment Application Form, unless the request is for >£500k or is seeking to use funding from the Strategy or College Surplus pots. Please refer to the Approval Flowchart or your local finance colleagues for more details.

The Business Case forms comprise two parts: an Executive Summary plus the main body of the document. Both parts must be completed.

The Investment Application Form broadly mirrors the Executive Summary of the Business Case.

Any Business Cases or Investment Applications submitted to Investment Committee should be accompanied by a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) template, unless the investment has no financial benefits. The discount rate for 2023 is 4.5%

The Business Case forms will be updated regularly based on feedback received from users. Please download the latest version of the form from this site whenever you start a new investment request.
