Bound with: The first of two incunabula bound together.   Bound with:  Merula, Georgius, Enarrationes Satyrarum Juvenalis.  Treviso:  Bartholomaeus Confalonerius, [not before May] 1478 (M30). 
Provenance: Byrchyns (16th/17th century):  two heavily deleted inscriptions  ‘Liber [...] Byrchyns(?)’ on a1r.
Morne (16th/17th century):  ‘Mr Morne’ on a1r.
M. B. (17th century), probable owner:  on p5v of the second work in the volume is a pen-and-ink device in the shape of a trefoil on a plinth incorporating the letters ‘M’ and ‘B’ and the motto ‘veritas odit moras’ (Seneca).
Leonard Hotchkis (d. 1754), headmaster of Shrewsbury School:  armorial bookplate (Franks 15434) on a1r.
William Hunter (1718-1783), physician and anatomist:  source unknown.
University of Glasgow:  Hunterian bequest 1807;  Hunterian Museum bookplate on front pastedown, with former shelfmark “Av.3.1”.
Binding: England, 18th-century calf;  covers decorated with a double gold-fillet border;  gold-tooled red leather title label on spine;  sprinkled red-edged leaves;  front and rear flyleaves have watermark letters “G R” surrounded on three sides by foliage and surmounted by a crown, all within a circle.   Size:  302 x 215 mm.

Annotations: Frequent marginal annotations in Latin in 16th-century hands in red and in black ink (the same hands appear in the second work in the volume);  early marginal annotation in Welsh on a3r;  several manicules and nota marks;  running book numbers '1-10' on rectos;  two 16th-century inscriptions on a1r ‘For the net payme[n]t well & truely to be done of(?) the sayd’ and (partially read) ‘[...] discordia [...] Statius’;  early deleted ownership(?) inscription on a1r;  code ‘mi’ in ink on front pastedown.

Annotations: Occasional marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand;  copious underlining of text up to u7v, none thereafter.
Decoration: On a3r a seven-line initial “B” is supplied in red with reserved white;  paragraph marks in red on a2v and a3r.
