Binding: 18th-century gold-tooled red goatskin;  covers decorated with a frame composed of an anthemion roll and floral roll within fillets, and a centre panel formed by the same anthemion roll (the panel embellished with separate ornaments at its inner and outer corners);  gold-tooled spine;  gilt-edged leaves, gauffered;  marbled endpapers;  flyleaves have watermark of a fleur-de-lys within a shield surmounted by a crown.   Size: 295 × 208 mm.
Leaf size: 285 x 192 mm.
Annotations: Occasional marginal annotations in a 16th-century hand;  extensive marginalia in a later hand on 24/7r (f. 233r);  nine-line annotation in a 16th-century hand on 1/1r captioned ‘Disciplina Paris’.
Decoration: Three initials on 5/1v, 5/10r, 6/4v (ff. 41v, 50r, 54v) supplied in red;  a few other (crudely worked) initials and guide-letters in black in quires 1 and 2.
Imperfections: Wanting the blank leaves 18/12 (f. 178) and 31/10 (f. 306).
