Nattali and Bond, publishers and booksellers, Covent Garden, London (second half of 19th century):  sold book to William Euing.
William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  purchased from Nattali and Bond 1 Feb. 1869 according to Euing’s pencil acquisition note with price code on A1r “1.2.69 Nat. & Bond fc/-” together with his inventory number “No 3947”;  source confirmed in Euing’s acquisitions inventory (University of Glasgow Library, MS Euing 49).
University of Glasgow:  presented by Euing in 1872 according to University Library bookplate on front pastedown.
Binding: France, late 17th-century, gold-tooled, light brown calf;  covers decorated with a double decorative-roll border, the monogram ‘PS’ [i.e. Plessis-Sorbonne] in the centre and corners on a field of fleurs-de-lys;  spine compartments decorated with the ‘PS’ monogram and fleurs-de-lys;  gilt-edged leaves;  19th/20th-century marbled endpapers and wove paper flyleaves (slight traces at edges of the original marbled pastedowns).  Size 387 x 270 mm.
Leaf size: 378 x 257 mm.
Annotations: 19th-century price "£3-3-" in pencil on front free endpaper;  19th-century price code "L/L/-" in pencil on rear free endpaper.

Annotations: On A1r the number “808” in red ink in a 16th-century(?) hand.
Decoration: Text in double columns, each enclosed within red ink rules throughout.
