Provenance: Richard Pype/Pipe (16th century):  possibly to be identified with Sir Richard Pype, Lord Mayor of London in 1578 (d. 1587):  “Richard Pype” stamped in ink on upper margin of a2r.
John Pearson (late 19th century), private bookseller, 38 Sussex Street, Pimlico, London:  sold book to William Euing.
William Euing (1788-1874), insurance broker, Glasgow:  purchased from Pearson 18 Feb. 1868 according to Euing’s pencil acquisition note with price code on a2r “18 2 68 Pearson ab/f” together with Euing’s inventory number “No 3556”;  source confirmed in Euing’s acquisitions inventory (University of Glasgow Library, MS Euing 49).
University of Glasgow:  presented by Euing in 1872 according to one of the two University Library bookplates on front pastedown.
Binding: England(?), 16th/17th-century calf;  covers decorated with a quadruple blind-fillet border;  front pastedown of parchment, rear pastedown of paper;  sprinkled red-edged leaves.   Size:   209 x 162 mm.
Leaf size: Leaf size:  203 x 150 mm.
Annotations: Frequent 15th/16th-century marginal notes in Latin throughout in various hands (some cropped by binder);  frequent 17th-century marginal notes in English in quires b-n;  occasional manicules;  paginated (rectos only) “3” to “807” in an early hand;  19th-century price “12/6” in pencil on front pastedown.

Imperfections: Lacks the first quire, a1 and EE7-8.

Provenance: University of Glasgow:  source unknown;  not recorded in A. Arthur, Catalogus impressorum librorum in Bibliotheca Universitatis Glasguensis, (Glasguae:  1791);  a superseded University of Glasgow Library shelfmark  “KH.9.15”, which has been transferred in typescript onto the volume’s modern book-plate, suggests that the book probably came into the University Library’s collections sometime in the 19th century.
Binding: Rebound ca. 1990 in the University of Glasgow Library Conservation Unit in modern pigskin;  previous binding unrecorded;  single brass clasp, new endpapers and flyleaves;  15th/16th-century manuscript title on lower edge of leaves “Guidonis Bonat”;  now housed in a buckram-covered box.   Size:  225 x 170 mm.
Leaf size: 210 x 155 mm.
Annotations: Occasional 16th-century marginal annotations and underlining;  zodiac symbols added in ink in an early hand to the woodcut signs of the zodiac which appear on I8v-K8r.
