Binding: France, 18th-century calf;  covers decorated with a triple gold-fillet border, a small gold fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine;  marbled endpapers;  marbled-edged leaves;  blue silk bookmark.   Size:  271 x 201 mm.
Leaf size: 264 x 190 mm.
Annotations: Occasional marginal annotations in French in 16th and 17th-century hands - mainly quoting from the text;  on A2r a brief note in French in a 17th-century hand relating to sales of wheat and a similar note relating to produce on FF9v;  “No 769” in an 18th-century hand on verso of front free endpaper;  a manuscript title-page (18th century) in French has been substituted for the missing leaf A1.
Decoration: Seven-line initial “S” on A2r, seven-line initial “Q” on A3r, nine-line initial “Q” on A9r, and six-line initial “F” on nn1r supplied in red and blue with reserved white;  other initials throughout supplied in red;  paragraph marks in red in the Table (A4r-A8r) and in the chapter headings.
Imperfections: Wanting A1 and FF10;  lower corner of ss1 torn off, with loss of text.
