| Decoration: | Crudely painted initials supplied in red, green, or blue (some in outline and occasionally with the colours combined) in quires 1-16, 23-25, 33, 35-37 (i.e. ff. 1-156, 217-242, 313-322, 333-362); a few of the initials incorporate grotesque faces, and the initial “I” is occasionally represented in the form of a fish; capital strokes in red in the same quires; in the remaining quires initials are intermittently supplied in brown ink; running titles (with some gaps) in black ink or in red. |

| Decoration: | On 1/1r an eight-line initial 'F', which is supplied in shades of dark blue with white tracery, is set on a square gold ground, and foliate decoration in shades of mauve extends from the initial into the inner margin; on the same page the centre margin is decorated with a vertical narrow bar in gold around which is entwined foliate decoration in mauve, grey and green extending into the lower margin, and the outer and upper margins of the page are decorated with purple and green pen-work; on 1/4r a six-line initial “I” in shades of green to resemble foliage is set on a square gold ground; a similarly decorated six-line initial “B” is supplied in blue and set on a square gold ground on 23/3v (f. 219v), and the page is further embellished with foliate decoration in mauve, blue, green and gold in the centre and lower margins; a six-line initial “P” is supplied in shades of mauve and set on a square gold ground on 26/1r (f. 243r); other major initials are supplied throughout in red and blue with reserved white, are infilled with pen-work decoration in green and purple, and have lavish pen-work extensions into the margins; smaller initials throughout supplied in red or blue; capital strokes and paragraph marks supplied in red throughout; running titles supplied in red; in the Book of Psalms all capitals within the text are supplied in alternate red and blue. |
