This special event in the Hunterian Art Gallery is closely connected with this year's Gifford Lectures, given by Professor Jean-Luc Marion, University of Chicago on 'Givenness and Revelation'.

Professor Jean-Luc Marion studies both the history of modern philosophy and contemporary phenomenology. He is pursuing a long-term inquiry into the question of God, hence his invitation to deliver this year's Gifford Lectures in Natural Theology.

He will speak about the idea of Embodiment in connection with The Hunterian's Rembrandt painting, The Entombment.

There will also be a discussion and the launch of Embodiment, a volume of essays edited by Ramona Fotiade, David Jasper and Olivier Salazar-Ferrer

1.10pm Talk on Rembrandt by Professor Jean-Luc Marion
1.20pm Discussion between Professor Marion and Ramona Fotiade, David Jasper and Olivier Salazar-Ferrer, the editors of the Glasgow volume, Phenomenological, Religious and Deconstructive Views on Living and Dying, to which Professor Marion contributed.
