Douglas Finch plays his own Fantasy-Transcriptions on Chopin:  'Preludes and Afterthoughts' (c. 20’) – a dramatic, nostalgic and at times surreal exploration of five of the most famous Preludes, followed by William Aide playing a selection of Chopin Preludes plus the 4th Ballade. Canadian pianist William Aide is an acclaimed solo recitalist, chamber musician and accompanist. He has recently been awarded his country’s highest honour, the Order of Canada. Douglas Finch is a performer and improviser as well as a much-performed composer for piano, chamber music, orchestra and film. In addition to this recital, he will be giving a talk on his audio-visual work including the scores he has done for Jon Sanders’ feature films (Wednesday 3 December at 5.15pm in the Music building).
