College Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

Role

The overall aim of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee is to create an inclusive working environment in the College of Science & Engineering that welcomes and celebrates diversity and strives for equality. The committee will promote EDI awareness within the College, and identify, discuss and take forward all aspects of related policy and its implementation. The Committee will support the Schools to stimulate and share good practice and innovation in EDI. The Committee will advise and make recommendations to the College Management Group to ensure EDI considerations underpin the development of strategy and policy.

The Committee will report to the College Management Group. It will be represented on, and provide reports to, the University Gender Equality Steering Group. It will also receive reports from the University GE Steering Group to ensure synergy.

Remit

  • To stimulate and share good practice and innovation in EDI
  • To advise College Management Group on the development and implementation of strategy and policy
  • To provide a forum for sharing and dissemination of best practice and for consultation and engagement on relevant strategy and policy developments from the College, University and external bodies
  • To support the School EDI Leads and committees on the implementation of their EDI initiatives and preparation of their Athena SWAN or other EDI related award applications
  • To review the membership and remit annually and to co-opt additional representative members to the Committee as may be required
