After 32 years, the Screen Studies Conference is taking a well-earned year off, and will be back again as usual in 2025.

Information on the 2025 Conference theme and the call for papers will be forthcoming in Autumn 2024.

SSC2023

The 32nd International Screen Studies Conference, organised by the journal Screen, was held in Glasgow from Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July 2023.

We wholeheartedly thank all the speakers and other delegates, volunteers, and everyone else who helped to make it such a successful, thought-provoking and rewarding conference.

Audiovisual Essay Prize

A selection of audiovisual essays was chosen by four curators with this year's theme in mind. The winner, voted for by conference delegates, was Katie Bird, with Feeling and Thought as They Take Form: Early Steadicam, Labour and Technology (1974–1985). You may still watch all the essays here.
