The Learning & Teaching Centre is committed to evolving as a dynamic centre for excellence in higher education practice, scholarship and applied educational research. It seeks to influence positively the quality of the learning and teaching experience at the University by providing high quality, contextually-relevant and flexible professional development programmes; offering support and stimulation to teaching departments and individuals in developing their teaching and improving student learning; promoting and disseminating innovative ideas for professional practice in higher education; producing and disseminating educational research and scholarship of national and international significance; embracing diversity and fairness in all aspects of the centre's professional work.

The centre works on the basis that staff develop as teachers throughout their academic careers. The centre is as keen to engage and involve experienced colleagues in reflecting on their practice, as it is new staff. Moreover, the centre knows from its work with experienced staff how exciting collaborations between staff at all levels can be.
