The Media Production Unit does not charge for its facilities or services where the client is a University School, College, or service, and where the intended purpose of the work produced is Educational, Research or Promotional.
Charges will only come into effect where costs are incurred by the Media production Unit, for example:
- Where you receive your video on a disc or tape, the physical media you recieve, will incur a charge. If you require your video as a media file, mp4, Quicktime, mp3 etc, there will be no charge.
- Also, music used in productions is most often copyrighted material and must be cleared and paid for before distribution. This payment is not for the benefit of the MPU, but must be paid to the performing rights licensing authorities, and will give us the license to use the music.
- We can record off-air progs, when requested to do so, free of charge. Where a programme is requested, but is past its broadcast date, we will have to retrieve a copy from the British Universities Film and Video Council Library, a service for which they will make a charge of £25. This is not a charge we make and we receive no part of that fee.
Please note that the Media Production Unit's staff normal working hours are 0900 - 1700, Monday to Friday.
If you wish to arrange out of hours filming, or for studio bookings, please contact Catherine Murphy at the earliest opportunity.
To allow the Media Production team to provide the best possible service, please provide as much notice as possible of your needs, particularly for large productions.
