Teaching Excellence Awards
The University of Glasgow has a long and distinguished tradition of learning and teaching, and there is much for staff, students and alumni to be proud of. Therefore in 2005-06 the Senior Management Group of the University introduced Teaching Excellence Awards (TEA) to recognise and celebrate members of staff whose teaching is of a particularly high standard. Eligibility criteria have been revised recently to enable Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) to also apply for a TEA.
Up to five awards are normally made for excellence in teaching and support for student learning at any level of the student experience, whether undergraduate, postgraduate or post-experience. The scheme is intended to be flexible, in recognition of the wide range of teaching that takes place at the University of Glasgow, and the different ways in which excellence may be recognised.
Awards are made at an appropriate graduation ceremony and comprise a certificate and an honorarium of £2000 (payable through payroll and subject to tax). The work of award holders will be highlighted on the University website, in eCampus news, at other promotional events and in publications. Award holders will be asked to disseminate their work in partnership with the Learning and Teaching Centre, through an appropriate mechanism.
