Binding: France, 18th-century red morocco decorated with triple gold fillets, a small gold fleuron at each corner; gold-tooled spine; marbled endpapers; gilt-edged leaves; green silk bookmark; front flyleaf has watermark “T [tower surmounted by a cross] DUPVY FYN(?) || AUVERGNE 1742” (cf. Heawood 238); rear flyleaf has watermark of a bunch of grapes within a crowned circle. Size: 410 x 285 mm.

Annotations: Erased ownership(?) inscription in lower margin of 1/2r - unread under ultraviolet light;  on 1/1r is a list signed “Argelati” of other 15th-century editions of Pliny’s Historia naturalis, which includes a reference to Pellegrino Antonio Orlandi, 'Origine e progressi della stampa o sia dell’ arte impressoria' (Bologna: 1722).
