Tax refund scams

We wish to inform you about bogus e-mails  claiming to be from the HM Revenue and Customs informing recipiants they were entitled to a tax refund.  This contains a link to a hoax website.

Pay and Pensions would advise any employee who receives such an email to please follow HMRC’s advice below:

Check the advice published at www.hmrc.gov.uk/security/index.htm to see if the email you have received is listed
Forward any suspicious emails to HMRC at: phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk  and then delete them from your computer / email account

Do not click on website links contained in suspicious emails or open attachments
