Thurso Street main searchroom:

• 12 reader spaces - 11 at desks and 1 at a plan bench (appointments recommended, especially during term time)

• Power points for lap-tops available at all 11 desk spaces
  

• Lounge with tea- and coffee-making facilities (shared with staff)

• 2 Toilets off the Lounge
  

• Lockers

• 2 computers for the consultation of source lists and our catalogues. These finding aids can also be made available in paper format.
  

• Items can be produced in advance to be ready on your arrival. Otherwise, order slips are collected at: 9.45am, 10.15am, 11am, 11.30am, Noon, 1.30pm, 2pm, 2.30pm, 3.15pm, 4pm (Thursdays: continuing half-hourly until 7pm).
  

• Library of reference books

• A selection of bars, cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes walk

• An archivist and assistants always available to assist visitors

• Wi-fi capability for University of Glasgow staff and students
  

Dumbarton Road ground-level searchroom:

• Accommodates up to 2 visitors at one time (appointment always essential)

• Power points available for both visitors

• Lounge with tea- and coffee-making facilities (shared with staff)

• Wheelchair-accessible toilet

• Orders must be placed 24 hours in advance

• Finding aids in computerised format

• A selection of bars, cafes and restaurants in the vicinity
  

• An assistant is always available to assist visitors and an archivist can be called for assistance as required.

The University’s Conference and Visitor Service (CVSO) can advise on the availability of local accommodation for visitors using the Archive collections. A wide range of options from self catering to 5 star hotels is available.
