Repacking the Clerk's Press volumes
The Clerk’s Press is made up of the earliest records of the University, dating from the foundation of the University in 1451. These records are collectively known as the Clerk’s Press as they were formerly stored in the University Clerk’s cupboard.
The records cover all subjects, from the maintenance of the buildings, to the library catalogue through to the diet of the students.
A number of the records have been bound together which were previously stored directly on the shelves. A programme to package the volumes in custom boxes was started in 2008 and will be running for next year.
For further images of this packaging process, please see the repacking Clerk's Press volumes gallery.
For more information on the records held as part of the Clerk’s Press, see the online catalogue.
