Stoddard-Templeton Collection

Thanks to generous awards from the National Heritage Memorial Fund, National Fund for Acquisitions, Friends of the National Library, and Friends of Glasgow Museums, Archive Services was, in conjunction with the Glasgow School of Art and Glasgow Museums, able to purchase the Stoddard-Templeton Collection.  The Collection encompasses the design library, design archive and heritage carpet collection of James Templeton & Co Ltd and Stoddard International plc, two of Scotland’s most significant and influential carpet designers and manufacturers.

Following on from the acquisition, we are embarking on a staged programme to catalogue, conserve, digitise and provide access to the collection.  Our first application for funds to undertake cataloguing work will be submitted to the National Cataloguing Grants Programme in June.  To celebrate the acquisition, we hosted a party on 29th May to bring together our partners, funders and supporters.  From this we should be able to bring together a network of volunteers to support our management of the collection and our fundraising activities.
