March 2009
Scottish Business Archive
Following on from our departmental outing to Clydebuilt at Braehead on 15th December, on 10th March we had the pleasure of hosting a return visit by a group of Scottish Maritime Museum staff and volunteers, headed by the Curator, Linda Ross. Lesley Richmond, Director of Archive Services, gave them a tour of our Thurso Street repository and searchroom, to give them an idea of the amount of material we hold and the ways in which it is stored and accessed, and answered questions over tea and biscuits. We then had an exhibition of items for our visitors to look at more closely, including contracts, specifications, plans and photographs from the John Brown & Co. Ltd collection, and brochures and a Masters & Mates personnel volume from the Anchor Line collection. We were pleased to be kept on our toes by such knowledgeable visitors, and hope to keep up these links.
