The Business Archives Council of Scotland was established in 1960 as an independent archive body concerned with the active preservation of the records of Scottish business and industry.
Since our inception we have helped hundreds of organisations to manage their records more effectively through our work. We have an active programme of archive surveying and are able to offer a wide range of consultancy services to businesses in relation to archives, records and information management. As a result of BACS's work, the archives of many companies and organisations have been transferred to local government and university archives where they can be accessed by the public.
The Council actively supports research and publishes our own journal, Scottish Business and Industrial History.
The BACS is a charity funded by donations from our membership, Scottish businesses and a grant from the National Archives of Scotland.
