Malawian cycling representatives in Glasgow for the 2023 UCI World Cycling Championships recently took time out from their sporting endeavours to visit the University of Glasgow.

Whilst here, Macpherson Mbeya, a clinical officer and professional cyclist who is taking part in cycling events, and the President of the Cycling Federation of Malawi, Malombo Kayira, met with School of Infection & Immunity and WCIP colleagues.

The guests were given a warm welcome by Vice Principal & Head of MVLS Professor Iain McInnes and chatted over lunch with our keen cyclists Professor Jim Brewer and Professor Mike Barrett.

Elsewhere, they toured the University of Glasgow Sports and Recreation building, met Callum Hill, and tried out the state-of-the-art training equipment, as well touring the lab of Professor Stuart Gray from the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health.
