Centre for Scottish & Celtic Studies
The Centre for Scottish & Celtic Studies brings together academics from across the university to create a focus for research and teaching in the history, literature and culture of Scotland and the Celtic world. Staff associated with the Centre are based primarily in the departments of History, Celtic and Scottish Literature, with additional links to the departments of Music, Film and TV Studies and Archaeology.
The Centre sponsors an active Research Seminars series, and offers taught MLitt degrees in medieval and modern Scottish Studies with Postgraduate Cert and Diploma options. These can include study of Gaelic at an introductory or expert level and can be taken full-time or part-time.
The Centre also supports a vibrant interdisciplinary research community of PhD students and postdoctoral research fellows. Members of the Centre participate in a number of ambitious research projects, including two major AHRC-funded endeavours and the very active Centre for Robert Burns Studies.
