Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring that all staff is afforded the same career opportunities and representation regardless of gender, race, religion, or intersectionality.

"The School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Health is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). We are proud of our community and benefit from its diversity in gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity. Our colleagues in all job families and at different stages of their careers bring their individual backgrounds, experience, and knowledge into our research and teaching. This culture, and particularly our commitment to addressing gender inequalities, has been recognised by an Athena Swan Silver Award for our School.

As Head of School I am grateful to members of our EDI Committee and particularly the Athena Swan Self Assessment Team (SAT) for their achievements and for reminding all of us of areas that can be further improved. I am deeply aware that there is room for such improvement. As such I invite everybody to take advantage of the activities that we offer but also to identify areas where we can do better. The team and I are always there to listen, through activities such as our Open Forum, the Athena Swan Café, and an open door policy across the School.

I hope you enjoy the Athena Swan website and that you find helpful information and activities."

Professor Chritian Delles, Head of School.
