Our Vision

A successful and vibrant Research Institute built on well-funded and internationally recognised research with outstanding training and learning opportunities.

Our Institute

We have clinical academics & researchers based across Glasgow using state-of-the art facilities in the BHF Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre, West Medical & Davidson Buildings at Gilmorehill Campus & the sites in the Western Infirmary & Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Our research strengths have been integrated into substantial, well-resourced thematic programmes that build on the strengths of individual, clinical and non-clinical principal investigators.  Which create added value through basic, translational and clinical research frameworks.  Our strength is in identifying and designing novel therapeutic strategies that will lead to clinical trials.

Our Research

We have five research themes, each containing groups of leading, internationally respected researchers:

We also deliver a group of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.  Including the flagship BHF 4 year PhD programme.  There is a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching through efficient interactions with the professional schools.
