17-12-10: Alison Phipps appointed Adjunct Professor in Hospitality & Tourism at AUT

The role will involve collaboration on the theory and practice of hospitality with a particular focus on the the hosting of and by refugees and indigenous peoples.

Professor Alison Phipps has been appointed an Adjunct Professor in Hospitality and Tourism at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. 

In her capacity as Adjunct Professor, she will link to and expand on previous research and published work on refugee tourism and notions of hospitality as advocacy with Prof Alison McIntosh which fits within critical, multi-disciplinary, multi-lingual and social science perspectives of hospitality and tourism. The role will involve collaboration on the theory and practice of hospitality with a particular focus on the the hosting of and by refugees and indigenous peoples, and with a concern for applied dimensions to research. It offers an extension of the established collaboration with Prof Alison McIntosh, in the School of Hospitality and Tourism, Editor of the journal Hospitality and Society.

Prof Phipps will visit New Zealand from 10 - 15 December 2017, and will be giving a Faculty wide presentation on Tuesday 12th December hosted by Faculty Diversity Committee.
