Space Glasgow

The Space Glasgow Research Cluster was established to bring together the excellent and wide-ranging expertise in the field of space research from across the College of Science and Engineering. Space Glasgow currently includes members with interests in Chemistry, Computing Science, Engineering, Geographical & Earth Sciences, Mathematics and Physics and Astronomy. The formation of Space Glasgow has led to a increase in interdisciplinary activities in this area of research.

Space Glasgow members are involved in leading edge research and development in activities related to space exploration and understanding the Solar System. To demonstrate the breadth of research activity within Space Glasgow; The School of Physics and Astronomy contributes to the construction of critical hardware for the LISA pathfinder mission, the School of Geographical and Earth Sciences engages in the study of the ancient Martian hydrosphere and icy planetesimals, the School of Engineering is carrying out research to take forward numerous sounding rocket payloads and small satellite systems, and the School of Computing Science works with international organisations to develop safety assessments for human space flight.

Space Glasgow works with key organisations globally to expand knowledge and expertise in space science, technology and engineering. Researchers have strong links with industry and governmental organisations and are keen to create new links to continue to build capability.
