Application Procedures

How do I apply for a postgraduate programme at the University of Glasgow?

Can I just send you my CV?

No, we are unable to make an accurate decision based on your CV. We need to see a full application form and supporting documents (final or current undergraduate degree transcripts and certificate, references and additional information listed in the course entry requirements).

Can I email you with all my details so you can make me an offer?

No, please fill in a full application online and attach a copy of your official transcripts and references. We cannot make an offer based on an email from you.

When do I need to apply by?

Deadlines have been introduced to allow enough time to process applications and Confirmations of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). If you have to apply for funding, ATAS clearance or organise a visa, it is advisable to apply as soon as possible.

I am having trouble filling in my application form: who can help me?

For most application form questions, the Postgraduate Admissions team should be able to help you. If necessary, you can phone us on +44 (0) 141 330 4515. If your question is related to filling in the application form for PhD study, please contact the School where you wish to study for advice.

As an International student, can anyone in my country help me with the application?

Yes, we have selected educational agents around the world who are happy to advise on the application process and potential studying opportunities. Access our website to find the list of these representatives.

I want to apply for more than one programme - do I need to fill in more than one application form and provide more than one copy of all my documents?

Once you have created an account on the online application systems, you can apply for as many programmes as you wish.

I am applying for a scholarship - will my application be processed in time?

Please mark clearly at the front of your application (or insert a letter) that states you are applying for a scholarship and when the closing date for your scholarship application is. We will make sure that we have a decision for you in plenty of time for your scholarship application (provided you sent your application with enough time for it to be processed).

I've not got all my additional documents together - can I still send my application?
Yes. We can start processing your application as soon as we receive it but we will be unable to make a decision until we have received your academic transcript and at least one of your references.

Can I fax/scan my application and documents to you?

The preferred option to apply is online. Scanned or faxed applications are no longer accepted.

I've just realised I sent my documents to the wrong university address - what do I do?

Contact the Postgraduate Admissions team stating what you sent, where you sent it and when. Alternatively, if you know the email address of the person you sent it to, email them and ask if they can send it on to the Postgraduate Admissions Team in the Recruitment & International Office.
