Glasgow students have excelled in The Herald Scottish Student Press Awards announced yesterday.

Chris Watt, co-editor on the Glasgow University Guardian newspaper won the prestigious Student Journalist of the Year award. He also won ‘Best News Writer’ and a commendation in the ‘Best Features Writer’ category.

The Glasgow University Guardian – co-edited by Chris Watt and Lucy Smith - won ‘Best Newspaper’.

GUM (Glasgow University magazine), edited by Zoe Grams, won 'Best Student magazine'.

James Porteous won 'Best Photographer' for his work in Glasgow University Guardian.

Suzi Higton, Glasgow University Guardian, was a runner up in the 'Best Sports Writer' category.

And Qmunicate - the magazine for the Queen Margaret Union edited by Scott Forsyth and Kat Borrowdale - was a runner up in the 'Best Student magazine' category.
