Adviser to Sir Steve Redgrave and Glasgow Rangers FC to receive honorary degree

Sports scientist Professor NC Craig Sharp is to be honoured by the University of Glasgow on 2 July 2005

Adviser to a large number of elite sports competitors, including Audley Harrison and Sir Steve Redgrave, and advocate of children's sports development, and published author, Professor NC Craig Sharp is to receive an honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Glasgow at 11am on 2 July 2005.

First Fellow of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science, Fellow of the Physical Education Association of the UK, and member of the Athletics UK Policy Committee on Doping, are only a few of the positions that Professor Craig Sharp has held in the world of sport science.

His accomplishments have also included acting as advisor to sporting champions such as Jonah Barrington (six times world squash champion), Richard Fox (five times world K1 slalom champion), Audley Harrison (Olympic boxing champion 2000), David Moorcroft (5000m world record-holder 1980) and Sir Steve Redgrave (multiple Olympic rowing champion). Professor Sharp has also advised Glasgow's own Rangers FC.

As an advocate of the development of children in sport, Professor Sharp's involvement with the University of Glasgow led to the first degree course in Sports Science in Scotland, which was followed by nine other Scottish institutions.
