Glasgow won the majority of the races in the Walter Scott & Partners Limited Edinburgh/Glasgow Universities Boat Races on Saturday

The University of Glasgow took most of the honours at Saturday's boat races, winning four out of the six events, including both the men's and women's first eights. Edinburgh took the medals in the women's second eights and the graduate women's eights race.

The closest call of the day was the encounter between the women's first eights which was only won in the last few strokes when Glasgow held off a late Edinburgh challenge to win by half a length.

The men's first eights final saw the crews clashing 10 strokes off the start but neither crew were penalised by the umpires. When they were brought back, Glasgow were able to build up a five length advantage as they crossed the finish line.

Honours were shared in the second eights races with Glasgow winning the men's event by an easy margin and Edinburgh achieving a similar win in the women's event.

The graduate races are held over a shorter course and both were tight with Edinburgh's women winning by half a length and the Glasgow men taking victory too.
