A special screening of the film ‘Dance of the Maize God’ followed by a general discussion.

Painted vases looted from tombs have opened an extraordinary window on the ancient Maya. But the race to unearth these treasures has resulted in vast destruction. 'Dance of the Maize God' explores the royal life and rich mythology of the Maya, as well as the tangled issues surrounding looted art.

This event is inspired by our Trafficking Culture exhibition, developed in partnership with the Trafficking Culture team from the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research. Professor Simon Mackenzie and Dr Donna Yates will lead the discussion following the film screening.
