As part of the Mackintosh Architecture exhibition, novelist Esther Freud reads extracts from her new novel and discusses her engagement with the Mackintosh story.

Esther Freud’s new novel, published September 2014, presents a moving tale of young Thomas Maggs in Walberswick, Suffolk, at the outbreak of the First World War and the friendship he developed with newcomers, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh.

Freud will read extracts from the novel and discuss her engagement with the Mackintosh story. The event will be prefaced by a brief illustrated presentation about the Mackintoshes’ year in Suffolk.
