Radical pedagogies in higher education and community learning

Date: Tuesday 21 May 2024
Time: 10:00 - 14:00
Venue: Advanced Research Centre (Room 237B), University of Glasgow
Category: Staff workshops and seminars
Website: elinet.org.uk/events-and-opportunities/events/event/radical-pedagogies-in-higher-education-and-community-learning

Please join us at this event exploring what we, a community of educators, mean by radical pedagogies (encompassing the widest range of transformative teaching and learning pedagogies including those you might describe as anti-oppressive, social justice-oriented, anti-racist, activist, decolonial, and anti-colonial), and how it is practiced. Bringing together PhD researchers, teachers, and researchers from various disciplines working in higher education and/or involved in community learning, this event will initiate meaningful conversations and address topics and approaches of shared interest that bridge academic knowledge with community needs. Our primary goal, and dream, is to cultivate a vibrant space for discussing and sharing our ideas and practices that challenge conventional teaching and learning models, and normative ways of knowing, being and relating. In short, how we might teach and learn otherwise.

This event will take place face to face and is free to attend but you must register (details to follow).

We will be hearing from different contributors (see Abstract Submissions below) followed by a Panel Discussion & Q&A (more information to follow), then late lunch.
