Electric Eye presents new paintings and sculptures by Glasgow-based artist Neil Clements (b. 1982, Belfast). Clements' work often echoes the abstract formal strategies of modernist art: he has, for instance, produced monochromatic paintings, shaped canvases and geometric sculptures. Clements alludes to these forms to introduce new cultural contexts for understanding them, from industrial design to military hardware, popular music to covert surveillance. This exhibition extends the artist’s interest in these areas, with an installation that references the furnishing of gallery spaces in the 1960s and the cultural climate of the Cold War.
