Short Description

To familiarise the student with the management methods and techniques most commonly used to manage and lead formation, performance, reward, and development of teams in the contemporary workplace.

Timetable

This course is made up of asynchronous online sessions. The student is anticipated to engage in approximately 100 notional learning hours. Each session consists of a combination of recorded lectures or interviews, online activities, as well as case studies and recommended reading discussions.

Assessment

The summative assessment is a 5 - 10 pages, 2000 word, essay. The assessment is based on a case study which will involve synthesising knowledge learned on the course to answer a series of questions linked to a practical challenge associated with managing a team in a contemporary workspace. This exercise cultivates knowledge and understanding students will need in the workplace to manage teams effectively.

Intended Learning Outcomes of Course

By the end of this course students will be able to:

1. Analyse the tools and techniques used in each stage of managing and leading teams.

2. Critically evaluate the challenges associated with managing and leading teams in the workplace.

3. Develop approaches to improving management and leadership of teams.

Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits

Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
