Welcome

Glasgow University Archive Services is a unique learning and corporate heritage resource that is an inspiration for all.  We hold the records that document the history of the University and its management, staff and students from its foundation in 1451 to the present day.

We also have one of the largest collections of historical business records in Europe and it includes much of the archive of Scottish industries such as banking, retail, distilling and shipbuilding.

Important

Our refurbishment

Our public search room is now closed while extensive refurbishment of the area is carried out.  We hope to reopen in February 2010. This will mean that on-site visits to view archival material will not be possible during this period.  The file retrieval service for files held in the University Records Centre is similarly disrupted, see the University Records Centre page for updates.
