Glasgow alumnus Ian Forrester QC honoured in Scottish Legal Awards

Ian Forrester QC is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2020 Scottish Legal Awards

Ian Forrester QC (MA, 1965; LLB 1967) is to be honoured at the 2020 Scottish Legal Awards, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding career. 

Mr Forrester is an alumnus of both the University of Glasgow, and the University of Tulane, Louisiana, and has enjoyed a distinguished career, becoming a member of the New York State bar, the bar of England and Wales, and the Brussels bar. 

Besides being an alumnus of the University, Mr Forrester is also an Honorary Professor of European Law and was an awarded an honorary doctorate by the University in 2009. 

Mr Forrester has appeared as a Judge in Scottish, English and Belgian courts and conducted cases before the three European Community Courts and the European Court of Human Rights. In 2015, Mr Forrester was appointed to the General Court in Luxembourg, where he served until January 2020. 

The University is delighted to congratulate Mr Forrester on his well-deserved recognition.
