Scottish criminal records in the Special Collections

The Special Collections of Glasgow University Library holds a considerable amount of court material for both the 18th and the 19th centuries. The holdings reproduced here are of the High Court’s circuit in Glasgow in the early 1830s. Printed versions of the indictments often contain a fairly detailed account of the crime, together with the names of witnesses. These volumes, which were used by members of the Court, also contain an index of all the trials scheduled for the session, and a manuscript notation of the outcome of the trial.
