Free Will and Moral Responsibility

Wednesday 1 December, 1:30-2:30pm

This live talk, with Q&A, will be concerned with one of the defining values of modern times: freedom. More specifically, we will examine the concept of free will and its close connection with moral responsibility, making reference to a range of relevant topics from the RMPS Highers specification. We will consider definitions of free will, evaluate arguments for and against the existence of free will, and reflect on the implications of all this for moral agency and accountability. The focus throughout will be on how students can demonstrate knowledge, understanding, analysis, and evaluation in their assessed work.
